STEP 3 – MUSCULOSKELETAL HEALTH

broken image

Many nurses experience acute or chronic back, leg, and shoulder discomfort due to the effects of being on their feet for long periods of time.

This can be coupled with a recovery time or rest period that simply isn’t long enough, especially if nurses are doing extended or back-to-back shifts. Repetitive bending, lifting, and transferring patients is dangerous and can cause back injuries among nurses.

As a result, nurses experience work-related musculoskeletal injuries at a rate of almost seven times the national average.

Using Essential Oils that are warming to the muscles and joints can help support nurses at the start of a shift; or at the end of the shift when they endure heavy physical loads.

Essential Oils that support muscles and joints include:

• Marjoram

• Black Pepper

• Ginger

• Cypress

• Lemongrass

• Copaiba

• Wintergreen

• Peppermint

• SOOTHING BLEND

• Massage Blend

SOOTHING BLEND is a minty, camphoraceous blend of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus Essential Oils perfect for a massage after a long day or an intense workout.

PRACTICAL USES

• Apply to feet and knees before and after exercise.

• Massage SOOTHING BLEND with a few drops of carrier oil onto sore joints before bedtime.

• Rub SOOTHING BLEND on lower back muscles after a day of heavy lifting at work or during a move.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

TOPICAL USE: Apply to desired area. Dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

CAUTIONS

Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

SOOTHING BLEND is also available as a topical cream to provide a cooling and soothing effect to targeted areas. Infused with the SOOTHING BLEND of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils plus natural plant extracts and other powerful ingredients, SOOTHING BLEND RUB can be an essential addition to your bathroom cabinet and gym bag.

It is formulated in a base of moisturizing emollients that leaves your skin feeling soft and not greasy. It is the choice of many massage therapists and sports practitioners who currently use SOOTHING BLEND in their practice.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Massage lotion into affected areas. For a more intensive treatment, apply Deep Blue Soothing Blend on the skin prior to lotion application.

CAUTIONS

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use on wounds or damaged skin. Do not bandage tightly after application or use with a heating pad. Keep out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

After a long day pounding the ground at work, soothe tired and aching feet with a magnesium foot bath and Essential Oils.

QUESTION – WHAT ESSENTIAL OIL ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO USING ON YOUR BODY, AND WHERE ON THE BODY WOULD YOU USE IT?
