It can be difficult for nurses to maintain a healthy lifestyle when they are working long hours, pulling night shifts, making up for short staffing by working overtime, feeling tired, and experiencing a lack of energy.

And that is just while they are at work. As nursing is still a primarily female-dominated profession, nurses often have families to look after, too.

Which means that grabbing food from a vending machine is all some nurses have time to do.

And as for setting aside time to exercise—or finding the motivation—well, that can seem impossible at times!

Potential result: unwanted weight gain.
